Using the information collected by volunteers through the forest health assessments and other available data, Ecosystem Services created sets of project maps for each park, including:

​

  • Invasive species coverage at the canopy, mid-level, and ground level,

  • The areas selected for management by contractors and volunteers, and

  • The areas where trees have been planted under the project.

DARDEN TOWE PARK

Darden Towe Park is a 113-acre park located in and managed by Albemarle County. The park includes a boat ramp with access to the Rivanna River, dog park, picnic shelters, and sports fields. Darden Towe Park has 18 management units covering 25.7 forested acres.

RIVERVIEW PARK

Riverview Park comprises 26.6 acres that border the Rivanna River. The park is managed by the City of Charlottesville. The Rivanna Trail runs through the park. Riverview Park is the only park within the City of Charlottesville with public river access. Riverview Park has 11 management units covering 11.3 forested acres.

PEN PARK

Pen Park is the largest park managed by the City of Charlottesville, comprising 280 acres. The park features a golf course, sports fields, and a 1.5-mile long trail along the Rivanna River. Pen Park has 32 management units covering 97.16 forested acres.
